Frequently asked questions about the service.

What is telemetry and what information can it monitor?

Telemetry collects data from equipment or sensors and transmits it to a monitoring point. Depending on the instruments and platform, it can show temperature, level, pressure, consumption or equipment status. TESERCOM provides connectivity between the facility and the control center; the available measurements depend on the connected system and agreed scope.

Does every site need internet access?

Not necessarily: data can travel over a private fiber optic network or radio links to the control center. Other architectures use cellular connectivity or internet access. The choice depends on distances, terrain, line of sight, coverage, power and the amount of data to transmit.

Can it connect to my SCADA system or existing equipment?

This may be feasible if the equipment, interfaces and protocols are compatible. The SCADA or monitoring platform, controllers, instruments and existing network are reviewed. Providing connectivity to a device does not by itself guarantee integration: any required gateways, licenses and configuration must be assessed and defined in the proposal.

What happens to the data if communication is lost?

Remote displays and alerts that depend on the link may stop updating. If field equipment has local storage and the configuration supports it, data can be retained and sent when communication returns. This recovery is not automatic in every system; storage capacity, backup power runtime and failure behavior must be checked.

Is data received in real time, and can the system generate alerts?

The update frequency depends on sampling, the platform and the link's latency and capacity. Compatible systems can generate threshold or event alerts with configured recipients and channels. Intervals, testing and responsibility for responding are agreed for the project; having telemetry does not imply continuous staffing.

What information is needed to assess a telemetry project?

The location and number of sites, distances, available power and connectivity, existing equipment and platforms, measurements and required update frequency. Authorized users, remote access and continuity requirements should also be defined. This information supports the network assessment and helps establish the technical and financial scope.
